Reducing the number of football scholarships is the elephant in the room

Having 85 football scholarships is expensive and creates massive Title 9 problems. Do we really need the backup to the backup to the backup on scholarship? Olympic teams don't even have their starters all on scholarship, yet they still perform at high levels.
This is also a good time to rethink conference affiliations and scheduling. Flying 25 baseball players or 85 football players to a remote away game isn't cheap. Some of the current conference geographies make no sense.
