So theres a doe laying in the field about 30 yds from my house between the

Walking trail and my back yard. It has some taller grass, but is hardly a hidden or safe place. Its been laying there since about dinner time. It's looking around but not attempting to get up.
So what's up with that? Injured/sick? Nesting for birth?
It was by itself until I just took the dog out and there are 5 more deer hanging out near it.
Im worried that I will need to call animal control...especially if it's sick or dying.
