Need some lounge advice

With yesterday’s heat in central va, and knowing Saturday it was going to be cooler, I was determined not to flip over to ac. Well, kids and wife pretty much demanded it last night when second floor was 83 degrees. So, I shut windows, turned unit to AC at 9 pm. At 11, still 83. I turn off. Wait. Turn back on. This morning, after running for another 7 hours, it is now 81. If it were not raining I would open the windows. Anyhow. With the state of things, would you call for service now, or looking at long range forecast, wait 2 more weeks and just go with open windows and blankets.
