I think as of last hour, the worst is over wrt fear/ financial meltdown

Just my opinion:

I think it took this week for American society to accept there's a legit threat here, and now we're taking it seriously. Fear only builds until there's acknowledgement of the problem. It correlates to uncertainty, not challenges.

We have accepted.

Markets might go a bit lower, but the market fear has peaked.
