In WWII my Dad was initially on a WWI destroyer serving in the Atlantic

and North Atlantic (can't remember its name offhand). He said serving on that old destroyer in the North Atlantic was miserable. He was subsequently reassigned to a new destroyer DD-663 (USS Heywood L. Edwards) to serve during the Pacific theater. I always enjoyed watching programs relating to the Pacific theater with him and his comments. Later in life he really enjoyed their ship reunions every other year.
