I've worn contacts/glasses for distance vision since I was 15.

I first realized I had a problem when I was playing baseball and couldn't see the catcher's signals when I was pitching. It took me a while to get used to wearing contacts while playing, including a dreadful performance in RF in a district all star tournament game where I was playing outfield for the first time ever and also wearing contacts all for the first time, and the game was at night. I missed two fly balls in the first inning and had to tell the coach to pull me out.

Now my eyes have gotten weaker and won't adjust for up close while I'm wearing glasses, so I have to do the old man thing and look over the top of them to read anything. It's been that way for about 15 years, and I'm 38...so I feel your pain.
