Installed Linux many times (inside)


- Install SSD into laptop
- Burn linux distribution to thumb drive or CD (if laptop still has cd drive)
- Boot from thumb drive or CD - install linux

Keep in mind that for the most part Linux won't run Windows programs.
There are some damn fine replacements like Libre Office (for Microsoft Office)
but things like Quicken won't work and don't have good equivalents.
