There is nothing a "stock car" has in common with a production vehicle...


...other than the logo.

NASCAR race cars are a fully custom tube frame race car with sheet metal attached to the frame. I don't even think the engines have much in common with production engines, other than both are V8s and have similar geometry. Shocks, brakes, suspension, etc. are all custom made for racing. Production stuff just wouldn't survive a race like the Daytona 500.
