the Cburg boys at their peak. The team was LOADED and nationally ranked and he would let them have it for now living the lifestyle if he saw them slipping. That is why there is such a burnout rate with the kids/men in the sport. And everyone should be in awe of the dedication it takes for even the most unheralded wrestler to work as hard as they do.
My son was one of Dresser's worst offenders and I was a fixture with the club, so I saw it first hand. And Kevin doesn't hold back.
The weight issue reminded me of a story with my son. He was wrestling in the Fargo Nationals.
He was riding the Va team bus and I was following with other parents later in the week. I got a call from Kevin telling me that he had gotten on the bus on weight target and had gotten off in Fargo 16 lbs over!!!! He had spent the whole trip snacking and drinking. Needless to say, he ran is butt off running all over Fargo for the next 3 days, then made weight (it was mostly Gatorade weight) He won his first match easily. Then drew one of the St Ed's studs. He started the match dominating him and jumping out to a big lead but then the gas tank went empty! And in the 2nd period gets destroyed.
Moral of the story and Kevin's point---No matter how good you are, how good you want to be, how good you can be; if you don't do the little things right there is going to be someone out there to beat you who is!
