I'll second the washing machine nomination.


Of course front loaders have always had the leak problems, but in the last few years they messed up top loaders.

GE/Hotpoint had top loader washers pretty much optimized a few years ago. They had a ballasted suspension system that let the machine continue to operate even when out of balance. The front panel popped off easily and gave access to the internals for quick repairs. My new Hotpoint will start walking around the laundry room with the slightest imbalance and you have to pull the machine out from the wall and lay it on its back to remove the bottom panel for any repairs.
