This discussion makes me think of the WWI christmas truce soccer game


The idea that there can be hope, and joy, and humanity even in dark times and surrounded by terrible things.

Comedy that touches on serious subjects is that same basic concept. It doesn't ignore that something happened or the harsh realities of what happened. Rather, it allows us to see past the negative and remember that even surrounded by suffering, life goes on and life can be funny. And we can laugh while also understanding and respecting the real events. Assuming that it is good comedy of course.
