The VA Duals didn't change to accommodate the big guns, National Duals did

The Virginia Duals was where the National Duals was born.

Issue is wrestling leaders and about half of the coaches want the regular season duals to actually mean something. Basketball games are relevant to a postseason, wrestling duals should be too. The other half thinks this is a bad idea, because their framing it as destroying the current NCAA tournament.

A good number of D1 college wrestling coaches care about their program first and the sport second, maybe even third. That is what holds us back.

Now, no one wants to wrestle anyone unless it's a Missouri (or the ACC) trying to get a good match with another P5 or a conference scheduled match.

As we've learned with the current Virginia Duals, getting 8 D1 teams to come together is a fight. They all say they'll come, then they'll all make an excuse why they cant.
