"Big Electric Car" will not be happy...lol


Although many cities have pointed the finger at diesel cars because of their polluting gas emissions, they are said to have become much cleaner than we think. According to independent studies, some Mercedes, Vauxhall (Opel) and BMW models emit almost no nitrogen oxides (NOx) even during the most demanding road tests.

The German Automobile Club (ADAC) has conducted real-life road tests of several petrol and diesel models to assess their pollution levels. Many vehicles performed significantly below the 168 mg of NOx/km currently allowed by the Euro 6d Temp norm.

It is important to note that, based on the WLTP norm, these limits are set at 80 mg/km for diesel cars and 60 mg/km for petrol cars. The results are surprising. The Mercedes C220d emitted no NOx at all while the BMW 520d emitted only 1 mg/km. The Vauxhall (Opel) Astra diesel also emitted only 1 mg/km. The Citroën Berlingo BlueHDi also impressed with 7 mg/km.

In some cases, diesel cars even emitted less NOx than petrol cars. All these measurements were taken under real driving conditions, i.e. with the maximum limit of 168 mg/km! This is therefore an excellent surprise that could, if politicians accept it, be a comeback for diesel.
