That's not the way OU fans see it. They see themselves AS one of the big

boys but they will tell you that they let their defensive recruiting go downhill during the last few years of the Bob Stoops era, and, Riley was afraid to fire Mike Stoops, the brother, in year one. OU fans and coaches feel they need three good defensive recruit classes to get back to the top. This class will be year two of that project. Alex Grinch is considered to be a good DC but just doesn't have the talent yet to beat the Clemsons, the Alabamas, Ohio States, and the LSUs. Also Riley is one of the relatively few h.c.s who actually enjoys recruiting and likes the college atmosphere. He'll go pro in the not distant future but is going to stay at Oklahoma another couple of years.
As for the committee not choosing OU in the future people thought that last year and they were chosen again. As long as Oklahoma wins the Big 12, has one or fewer losses and has an exciting offense they will be in the mix on Selection Sunday, like it or not.
