In a quest for comfortable "walking" shoes, what do you recommend?


My "go to" walking shoes these days are probably running shoes, but they look like...well, running shoes...lol Would love recommendations for "walking" or "hiking" shoes that are almost as comfortable as running shoes.

I have a pair of Merrill "low top" hiking shoes that are actually pretty close. My feet aren't tired at the end of the day as opposed to most similar shoes. My cheap Ecco casual shoes aren't as comfortable as I'd hoped, and wish they would bring back their Seawalkers or Cross shoes. Those were both great!

A complete surprise for foot comfort are my steel toed Redwing "shop boots." Although heavy, those are absolutely amazingly comfortable, and made for anyone who's on their feet all day.

One thing I hate are shoe companies that put "memory foam" insoles in place of building actual support and comfort into shoes (I'm looking at my Sketchers...lol).

As an alternative, does a boot maker like Redwing or Danner make "casual" boots that offer "max all day comfort?" Are there other hiking shoes that feel like running shoes? Most of my "day hikers" or "trail runners" seem to fall short...
