Weekend Takeaways
Great weekend for VT wrestling and the SERTC. Big win over Mizzou. Would like to see both teams at full strength and without redshirts, but it was a good win over a team that had the Hokies number the past few years.
Some observations after watching the dual and the SouthEast Open...
Sam Latona is going to be a good one, but Prata won't go quietly. I think you continue to see Prata as the starter for the immediate future, but 125 is far from settled.
Mitch Moore is such a stud. So aggressive, and is a natural pinner.
BC Laprade looked very solid against a ranked opponent. He look more aggressive the entire match.
DMF finishes so well on his feet.
Bolen wrestled well but I've heard he really struggled with the mask and was having a tough time breathing at different points in the match. Hopefully the mask is gone by next weekend.
Borst has gotten really big/strong. Terrible call by the refs to take away that beautiful blast double at the end of the first period.
197 is going to be an issue. Neither guy wrestled well this weekend.
Great job by Graf, Hart (severely underrated), and Smith winning the FR/SO division at the open.
Brady wrestled well. I think he needed to be a little more aggressive in his quarterfinal loss, but he wrestled hard coming back.
Onto Northwestern...
