Last time i heard him live was 2012 at 150th Cross Keys

To be honest he wasnt sharp that day. I wondered if he had lost facilties or was just mailing it in at the end of his career. However last year i listened to his lecture last year during a seminar at JMU about the ongoing confederate monument controversy. He was sharp and gave critical insight into the history of remembrance that showed much of the controversy is contrived. It was good to hear for old times sake at least once more after the passage of time. Regret that i never took his classes. He was a jewel and a credit to the Commonwealth. As much as a man's intellectual legacy can live on in the context of the infinite temporal unknown, his will!
