I know two officers that are K-9 cops.......................

they, of course, leave their "partner" in the vehicle until needed, and lock the car, but leave it running. The vehicle has a sensor that alerts the officer if the vehicle stops running. The vehicle also has a device in it that allows the dog to unlock the hatch and get out upon a electronic command from the officer, in the event the officer needs backup.

When cops need backup, they call SWAT, when SWAT needs backup, they call the K-9's!
