Technically, in the USA, "table wine" has nothing to do with


quality. It is a designation used to indicate a wine is of specific alcohol content, < 14%.

While common use may indicate a "table wine" is average, or lower, quality; technically there are some very fine wines that will age just fine that say "table wine". Some wineries use this designation on non vintage wines so the can use the same label year to year - without having to account for specific alcohol content in each vintage.

Don't by default turn your nose up to wine labeled table wine.

European labels are a whole different story.
