Mercedes nailed the turbo V6 formula right out of the box

Everyone else has been playing "catch up" since...and Mercedes hasn't been sitting on their laurels...

Honda engines were horrendous the first couple years back. Not only were they down on power as compared to every other engine manufacturer, their reliability was abysmal. Saying they were 4th out of four undersells how bad those engines were... But Honda worked overtime to close the gap, and they're now probably 3rd for power (just ahead of Renault) and their reliability issues have been completely put to bed.
