This is a really good post. One other thing that many people either don’t


realize or do not throw into the mix is that about the same time that Frank retired there was too much turnover in the athletic department and the Hokie Club way too fast. Both used to be full of people who understood and embraced the Hokie Family and Hokie Nation. That is not the case now. Please don’t misunderstand me. I do not think that everyone who is hired by these departments needs to have a strong Hokie background; but when changes are made, new people who are brought in from outside the Hokie Nation need some time and some strong examples in their departments to understand the concept. We made too many changes too fast and so many of the new people see their positions as just a job and there aren’t enough people left to help them grow by example into the positions. Change isn’t always a bad thing, but the way it happens can be.
