So I just graduated from VT...

And probably fit squarely into the entitled category B'Street brings up. Where I differ from many of my VT friends is that I grew up a diehard VT fan and experienced them winning 4 ACC championships. They see a mediocre/below average football program, I see an underachieving championship contender. In reality, it's likely somewhere in the middle.

After experiencing many of CFB's best years beginning in 2003/2004 and none of the struggles prior to that, I've became entitled to 10 win seasons and being in the conference championship mix. The last 7 years have infuriated me. This is not the caliber of program I grew to love. I recognize that times have changed and that the top of the ACC has improved. Winning has become more difficult. Meeting the standards of the past seems unlikely and may be too much to ask. At the same time, it's tough to accept or appreciate an 8-4 season with a Belk Bowl appearance and losses to teams like Pitt and GT for people like me. Entitlement may be the right word, but anything less than 10 wins frustrates me.

On the other hand, many of my friends that I went to school with are simply dejected/disinterested. Newer fans aren't going to particularly care about a team that's playing BC in November in a battle for bowl eligibility. There's so much vying for people's time these days that a team that isn't winning isn't going to be of much interest. VT needs to win more to engage younger alumni and students.

The reality of VT football is likely somewhere in between. It's not the 10 win often ACC Champion we saw before. It's not as bad as what we've seen recently. Over time, as we learn to accept and get used to who it looks like we are, that sense of entitlement will probably fade away.
