Man, people are SO uncharitable in their attributions to other people.

Would you stay in a job in which you had aspirations of a promotion but there appeared to be no path you could follow to actually get the promotion?

Some kids simply aren't P5-caliber players. Some kids REALLY enjoy playing in football games and saw opportunities to go get on the field elsewhere that may have NEVER materialized at VT. Some kids are entitled and delusional about their talents and therefore believe they are entitled to start when they haven't earned it.

Assuming because a kid transfers that he's afraid to compete or is entitled seems to only consider the latter scenario and ignore the former two explanations.

If you're going to criticize the kids who transferred, I sure hope you never changed employers when you saw a situation that might be a bit easier or more desirable for you. If you did, you're entitled. If you did, you don't like to compete.

Such views strike me as terribly VT-centric with virtually no consideration of the player and what might be in his best interest.
