So soccer dads, what do you do when your team plays much smaller kids?

And the coach of your team doesn't call off the dogs enough?

Our 7/8 grade team played a team yesterday that was 5/6/7/8 grade. That's never happened before. The size difference was striking.

We were up 3-0 in the first 10 minutes, made it to 6-0 at start of second half, and by rule we had to play down a person, then 8-0 and we played down two and pulled our goalie (and replaced her with our smallest player).

But our coach (who is new) put our goalie in the field. Our goalie is big even for an 8th grader - maybe 5'9", about 140. And she was excited to be in the field, bulled through the other team leaving players on the ground (no fouls tho) and scored to make it 9-0. Then she did it AGAIN. I have never heard an opposing goalie say, out loud, "Oh no, oh no, oh no. oh no" while the ball approaches her.

The game was called at 10-0, with 8 minutes left. My daughter was annoyed at her own goalie, because the kids wanted to keep playing, just not score. My daughter scored 2 of the first 3 goals, then had spent the rest of the match driving toward the goal and passing it to no one when she got close, because "dad, what good would it have done to score every possession and end the game?"

I think our coach should have had a better plan for this, and certainly pulled our goalie after she scored the first time. Our coach is new, and it is 7/8 grade soccer. Do I just leave it alone? Or say something to try to be helpful? My daughter is 14 and has played soccer for 10 years and I have never talked to a coach about play on the field. I'm a dude and don't want to scare anyone, either. I just felt terrible with how we played that game.
