Jones contract was up, no sense signing him when winning isn't the goal

When you lose 115 games and have the worst farm system in the game, winning is counter-productive. Unless the rules change that last place gets the first draft pick, they need to lose now and probably for a couple more years to have any shot at being relevant in the future.

They'd trade Davis in a second for a bag of gum balls if anyone would take him. No one will take him no matter how much of his salary they are willing to eat.
