Good point regarding ACCN and additional funds
I hope we spread it around to the non revenue sports and continue the positive things going on with the wrestling program. We have a unique chance to capitalize on Mekhi’s success and continue pushing to be a top 5 program.
As for men’s basketball, I don’t see how the team wouldn’t take a step back next year at the very least. That’s just a consequence of losing most of our key players. We should continue to value the program and offer a competitive salary to get the coach whom Whit feels can best succeed at VT.
If we need to pay top 20 money ($3M+) to get a coach whom is currently a top 20 coach, that’s fine by me. I’ll welcome a mid-major up and comer if Whit thinks he’s the right guy for the job as well, but that doesn’t mean we need to pay him a top 20 salary until he’s proven to be a top 20 coach.
