Another weekend of ACC softball is in the books.

Virginia Tech continues to demonstrate that they are for real by taking 2 out of 3 from Louisville, the two wins being the run rule variety. The Hokies next opponent, Duke, swept Georgia Tech in Atlanta by scores of 9-5, 11-2(6), and 8-6. Should be an interesting showdown next weekend in Durham.

Pittsburgh demonstrated the “on any given day” adage by run-ruling UNC 14-5, but lost the other two games by scores of 11-5 and 6-2. Perhaps my caution about the Panthers last weekend was just a week early. Syracuse shocked preseason #2 Notre Dame by winning two out of three games – scores of 9-1(6 innings), 6-8, and 8-6.

Florida State pounded UVA by a total score of 34-3 (scores of 11-0 in 5 innings, 8-2, and 16-3 in 5 innings as they begin to run away with the Atlantic Division. NC State finally got into the ACC win column by beating Boston College 3-4, 6-3, and 16-9.
