Reversals scoring question...

Novice watcher here but understand scoring etc. Are you in favor of 2pts for a reversal? Seems to me it should be more other wise it's just as good as an escape if you can't ride out the period.

Why is it this way? Any history of information on pros and cons would be great, thanks!
