They focus on the game being played

They understand that the people tuning in to the game are doing so because they are actually interested in the game that they are broadcasting, not hyping whatever ESPN thinks is the big thing in the sport.

Example: During bowl season, it did not matter which bowl game you were watching, the announcers couldn't stop talking about the playoffs. News flash ESPN, people tuning into the Belk, Military, or Boca Raton Bowls are usually the fans of the teams in those teams and want information about the game they are watching, not who is playing in a game in 4 or 5 days.

And in basketball, Vitale's love affair with Coach K and the Dookies.
