It’s crazy money to possibly get a look from a school that may not look

otherwise. I get why people do it.

I’m most familiar with lacrosse. Division 1 programs are allowed 12.6 scholarships to spread out however they see fit. Take Duke for example. Tuition is $60k and cost of attendance is near $75k. Duke’s Mens Lacrosse team has 50 players. Splitting the 12.6 scholarships evenly (not likely though) gives each athlete 1/4 of a scholarship. Leaving $56k of monetary need.

What IMG does is get the athlete’s foot in the door. They may not have the grades and/or test scores for Duke to even look at them. But when the coaches see IMG they know the players have had really good coaching and have basically lived their sport for X number of years.

Still ridiculous money for that exposure.
