Depth != high placing + 3 redshirts, 1 transfer, an injury, and a down year
Well this situation is about the depth, which is actually talent that is NOT contributing to the NCAAT team scores. Defeating Iowa the way they did was impressive and give them hope for a much higher placing this year.
I think all 3 redshirted last year: Dayton Fix, Joe Smith, and Kaden Gfeller.
They also got Dakota Greer in a transfer. I think they also got Andrew Shomers but he doesn't have the same impact.
I think the 197 Weigle got hurt and didn't have the same impact as he could this year.
I don't know what happened to Chandler Rogers, but he had high hopes at the beginning and didn't finish high. The 125 Piccinnini also looked light years ahead is 2019 (pinning returning champ Spencer Lee) and 2017 (finishing 4th) with 2018 being a down year where it wasn't terribly surprising he didn't finish high.
