The latter scenario is actually really bad e-mail protocol he wants you to


conduct. For example, I've always learned to NEVER change the name of an existing e-mail thread. Case in point, as an accountant I've seen e-mails with salary info in it and someone changed the title with the historical info in it causing someone to think it would be fine to forward to others within the organization, when it still had salary info in it below. Never change the subject line unless you get rid of the history IMO and it just becomes a way for someone to get the distribution list for a new topic.
