Clarke missing for VT was a big problem. He manned that middle foul line extended position against that defense and caused problems for UVa with his size, passing ability, and athleticism.

As for this particular game, I kind of took it with a grain of salt as Hokie fan. A win would have been a monumental task, but UVa pretty much did to VT what VT had done to Notre Dame a couple of weeks earlier. VT was 10-14 from the three line at halftime of that game just as UVa was against Tech. That is akin to a basketball blitzkrieg. I'm not sure anyone goes into JPJ the other night and beats that UVa team VT saw.
