This is all looking up a dead horses arse

Rehashing these old debates as if he should of been a proactive Saban so he's a failure is silly.
He is what he is, literally.
What got us to where he got us was his ability to work with what he knew and being Frank. Taking what we had and getting the most out of it.
Recruiting Mike Vick didn't hurt.
To say he was arrogant and full of hubris is just not understanding him as a coach or man.
He was practically if not literally the only person who would take the job and only because theuleft out the sanctions.
He was likely meant to be a temporary solution who turned into a HOF icon to many a totally respected by his peers.
Bring up prior success is not hubris. It's saying we had a good foundation so a lot was working to those calling for a massive retooling.
He did his best. Not always with success but his effort was sincere.
Expecting Alabama results from him is insane.
He never had the resources available.
Most who had been as successful would have left for more pay and support.
We are in the same transition and situation every program faces. Whether Frank or Anyone had retired.
UThug, FSU, USC and so and so forth.
Take an era and count the down programs.
