Early season issues

Seems this is more frequent early in the season. Some guys are still getting to weight; others are still transitioning back from freestyle competition (like McFadden).

The main lineups should be up and running in January - with only a break here and there for individuals to make sure they don't get hurt or worn out before conference and national tournament time.

Just my opinion, but I think teams that are below the top 15 or so are probably more likely to push for all their best wrestlers to be in the lineup as much as possible so they can be competitive in duals. Top 10 and definitely top 5 teams are more than happy to give their very talented #2 wrestlers at each weight (those not red-shirting) opportunities to get into the lineup. The backups need those chances to keep motivated for all the hours they put in training, plus it serves that team goal of keeping the starters fresh and injury free for later in the season when the points really count.

So yes, I'd be disappointed to see only 5 of 10 regular starters if I drove 50 miles to watch, but I wouldn't be all that surprised early in the season.
