Depends....

Cost to repair vs. cost to replace?

Is it a high end series Samsung or closer to an entry level?
The good news is prices have come down considerably.

They continue to introduce higher end sets 4k (now 8k) with limited media applications
available. Everything needs to be USB 2.0 capable (DVD and Home Theater Receiver).
Replacing all of that can add up. USB 1.4a was the standard at one time.

If you have to replace it, a 4k set is a good idea but has other ramifications as far as USB pass thru capability. Manufacturers are very good at planned obsolescence.

I've had my Sony XBR flat screens (40" & 32") for over ten (10) years now with no problems.
I have a small 19" Samsung flat screen in the kitchen and have owned for ten (10) years.
They're half the price new that they were ten years ago.

Good luck with your decision.
