Well written article and true...

I graduated from VT in 2001 and have had season tickets since then. I've decided not to renew next year for a number of factors, mainly my kids who are increasingly busy on the weekends, which makes it tough to get to most games especially with TV setting game times 6 days out.

For me while I love VT football, win or lose, what matters most is getting together with my friends and their now children to tailgate and make memories but I can't justify the expense anymore. When you factor in the HC donation, cost of tickets, 2-night hotel minimums, etc... we are talking a lot of money for a sub-par stadium experience. The seats are cramped, wifi is horrible, and there are to many obnoxious fans... I really enjoyed trying to explain to my 7 yo and 10 yo this past weekend why a younger alumni was yelling the "F" word towards the field during the game. Going the Stub Hub route is definitely in my future, $10 dollar tickets a plenty....
