Last year was a better year than I thought it would be and this year is shaping up to be better than I thought it would be a year ago. The transfers will definitely negate a lot of the loss that we got and other factors at play definitely help us. Now to the squad and who I think will be there.

125- This weight comes down to Dom Latona and Kyle Norstrem. I personally think Kyle had one of the toughest schedules of our guys last year and lost a lot of tight matches to elite competition. While I’m a huge Kyle Norstrem fan I think that Dom will be more consistent. This is probably going to be more of a coaches decision than a wrestle off scenario. Either way I think we get a win at NCAAs and no real liability at 125 in duals. Both guys will get the job done more often than not. Either way we are better here than last year.

133- Myers is obviously the guy and should have a similar or better year than Gus did last year. I don’t think he will have the flash wins Gus did as Gus sometimes wrestled at a very high level and sometime flipped, Myers is definitely more consistent and doesn’t really of unexpected wins or losses. Expect similar results to last year at 133 at NCAAs and more predictable results in duals.

141- I think the coaches probably see how Darber and Wyland look early before pulling Mitch’s shirt. For the team this year it’d be better to start Mitch and save his shirt for when Darber is starter ready. I don’t think we get Brent’s output this year at 141.

149- The way Blees wrestled last year I think he should’ve been a top 4 guy, but he didn’t look the same at NCAAs. Hopefully he just had a bad tournament and he is that good and shows he’s a top 4 guy this year. I think he has a Sal or better year.

157- BC is a fan favorite and I think we are all a little bit happy he’s still in the lineup. BC has shown what he’s capable of and hopefully he finishes this year how he started last year. I think we get some points at 157 this year and hopefully BC stays healthy for more consistent points in duals.

165- So Mekhi is a freak. I hope he’s a safe AA and I reluctantly say he can challenge for a championship. I think we get a very similar performance at 165 from Mekhi as DMF last year.

174- DMF looked great at 79kg. I don’t think he beats Hall or Valencia, but I think he can beat anyone else at that weight. We get more points at this weight as I think DMF will AA.

184- It’s time for ZZ to bring it. With Nickal gone he shouldn’t have his eyes on anything, but gold. ZZ should place 5th or higher. Better this year.

197- Some think 197 is weak this year, but I disagree. Sleigh probably won’t AA, but should be a lock to get a couple wins at NCAAs. Less than last year.

Hwt- I’m interested to see Borst start the year at heavy and see how he performs. Miller will step in and I think he can AA as this is a very shallow heavyweight field this year. We will have a better year at heavy this year.

What else I’m looking forward to:
184- Dewitt looks like he could be another under the radar guy. He’s rough around the edges, but very athletic and seems to be very committed to wrestling and with his athleticism he could be great.

197- Dakota Howard seems to have caught the coaches eyes. He definitely needs a redshirt as he has a lot of growing to do physically. It will be interesting to see how he grows.
