Northwestern is spending $260 million on an indoor practice facility. The schools have plenty of money.
For me, college football would be played by people who wanted to go to college. There would be no athletic scholarships. If you want to go, you have to pay. Take out a loan, like anybody else. And the money generated goes to the university, and college tuition is cheaper for the average student. If a college sport can't pay for itself, then it becomes a club sport.
If an NFL team wants to sign a college player and put him in its academy, it is free to do so at any point.
Plus, I just dislike college football recruiting, in all honestly. Too much money changing hands, too many 40 years olds telling 16 year olds they are great. I really do not like that part of American society these days.
