My friend sold his house..and what happened next is shocking!

He has a contract of sale with a buyer. Contract is good until September 15.

He recently saw that the buyer has listed the property for sale with a realtor as an assignment. In other words he would assign my friend's contract to them for a fee.

I understand the validity of the assignment but I don't understand how the buyer can list a property he doesn't own with a realtor.
