He talks too much about how he's generating income off ~$3M in capital to be interesting to me.

That's not the hard part; it's freaking easy in fact; old people around the world manage to do that. He could drop all of that in his 3% CD and get $90k/year without any effort.

Even if you manage to get your expenses down to nothing, you don't get 3M from living in a box and eating rice and beans in ten years.
