That means they really can't afford to sell Alderweireld now.

They'd be down to Vertongen, Sanchez and Dier as their centerbacks. Foyth too, but he's hurt right now, and probably needs a loan year before he's ready for EPL play.

I don't think it's a huge deal as long as they don't sell any of their main guys. They can probably sell Rose, because Walker-Peters seems ready. But nobody else.

Though I wanted them to sign a holding midfielder. Winks is still hurt, and Dembele is only fit about half the time. Everybody was talking about Grealish, but I wanted Lewis Cook.

At any rate, Spurs were already over the limit for foreign players in the Championship league, since Davies counts for Wales and Dier counts for Portugal. But I did expect an English signing or two. I don't think it had anything to do with money this particular time. Spurs' net spend over the last few years is something like 12 million, which is an incredibly low number. It's not like they've spent a lot. So they are probably sitting on some cash. But Levy is very particularly with how they use it. They probably could had landed Grealish, but they didn't want to pay over $25 million for them. And personally I don't think he's worth the $32 mil that Villa was supposedly asking.
