Owned a place, but never rented it out

at face value, seems like potentially a smart move...with the way VT is projected to grown, demand for such places seems likely to be strong for quite a while...so after the kids are gone, you have a nice potential revenue stream or a property that may have appreciated some if you want to sell...or you have a crash pad for football/basketball/etc games visits
