A7 was the result of modifying the f8.

There was a lot of simplifying like going to a fixed wing and losing the supersonic capability. I believe the fuselage was shortened too. Obviously, there are electronic changes from fighter to attack. The f8 also had 4 individual guns as opposed to the Gatling gun the a7 had.

Also, the F-8 was strictly Navy, whereas the A-7 was Navy and AF. ** -- F4EHokie 05/14/2018 07:07AM
