Not that I need to answer your question, but here it is: played some college baseball, coached baseball for 8 years, coached HS softball for four years, and now in my 2nd decade of coaching national level fastpitch softball for an organization that has put over 100 girls in D1 or D2 softball, including 24 that I personally coached for multiple years. In addition, I am a Hokie alum (2x), 25+ year football ticket holder, and VT Softball donor. Probably most importantly, I have also had a successful business career leading and managing teams. None, I stress none, of that matters however, but did want to answer your question. I have chosen to share my opinions on this message board because (1) I do know some things about fastpitch softball and (2) I care about the student-athlete experience at VT, especially the female sports as this is "it" for them and I believe our VT softball program is falling short of delivering the positive experience these girls deserve.

In any case with regards to the rest of your comments, as I said in an earlier post, our coach is directly responsible for the three bats missing from our lineup. But regardless, we still should have won 30+ games with this team. Yes the pitching staff led by Tinch has been outstanding especially considering their college inexperience. Well done! All the more reason, we should have won another 10+ games since they have given us a chance to win most games.

So that's it for me....as you can see from my earlier post today, I have moved on past this coaching decision as we will know Whit's decision in a matter of days (but felt I needed to respond to your post specifically directed at me). I will be watching and cheering for VT Softball as always, as I don't believe this week's performance will factor into Whit's decision. Go Hokies!
