In the early 80s Jhoon Rhee tried to recruit my sister to take up Taekwondo


She was a high level gymnast in the NOVA area but was peaking out and facing the choice of giving up her national aspirations or quitting the sport all together. Mr. Rhee came to her training facility one day looking for high level gymnasts (she already had the flexibility/strenght/coordination etc...) and put the full court press on her to take up Taekwondo saying he'd make her a champion. She ultimately passed on the opportunity and regretted it for years but at the age of 47 took up Taekwondo with her daughter and both became blackbelts in short order. I've always wondered what would have happened if she had taken up his offer. RIP Mr. Rhee.
