Although that probably isn't exactly what you are looking for.

Biography of Charles Coward, British officer who escaped German capture 7 times. Also managed to get awarded the Iron Cross by the German military while impersonating a wounded German soldier, and even broke into Auschwitz and posed as a Jew for one day.

Nothing really to do with the theater of war, just the story of one man whose experience in the war is almost too wild and fantastic to believe.
