I'm sure that Whit Babcock will...
talk to Scot Thomas after the season is completed (maybe before). A few on here said that Whit had a heart-to-heart talk with Scot last May. During the fall practice season, Scot made it sound like that he needed to improve from the past season and said something about "college coaching being a business (wins and loses)." Scot didn't shy away from the fact that he needed to win more games this season. After being swept by UNC during last weekend, we're guaranteed of another losing record in the ACC with only 2 conference wins and only 9 ACC games remaining. How much impact will the weekend series with the Hoos at Hooville have on Scot's future? It will just make matters worse for Scot if he loses the series to the lowly Hoos.
I like Scot Thomas. He loves everything Virginia Tech. There have been a few that hinted that Scot may step down from the program and move to an administrative role in the athletic department. I have no clue how much truth there is to that. Whit hired former women's lacrosse coach Megan Burker to an administrative position after she "stepped down" from the program. Whit respected Burker's intelligence and work ethic despite her struggles as WLAX head coach. I've been told that Whit feels the same way about Scot Thomas. Scot is a company man, a Tech man. That's why, IMHO, it will be more difficult for Whit to fire Scot.
