Tommy Ricard Commits To Virginia Tech

Tommy Ricard

Tommy Ricard
Offensive Line, Class of 2024
Hudson, Hudson, OH
6-4, 265

Virginia Tech picked up a verbal commitment from Hudson, Ohio offensive lineman Tommy Ricard on Tuesday evening. He is the sixth verbal of the 2024 recruiting class and the first offensive lineman. He is also the first verbal for new offensive line coach Ron Crook.

Ricard plays offensive tackle in high school, though he has the look of a guy who could play tackle or guard at the college level. Here are his rankings by the various services…

247: 3-star, No. 26 player in Ohio
Rivals: 3-star, No. 26 player in Ohio
On3: 3-star, No. 20 player in Ohio

Ricard is listed with Power Five scholarship offers from Michigan State, Minnesota, West Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky.

Hudson, Ohio is Ricard’s hometown, and though it’s a town of only 23,000 people, it has produced four NFL players. Two of the three most recent players were talented offensive linemen — Brian Winters (Kent State, 2013 draft) and Bill Nagy (Wisconsin, 2011 draft).

Ohio has been an untapped resource for Virginia Tech in recent years with over half the state laying within the 6-hour radius from Blacksburg. The Hokies haven’t signed a player from Ohio since 2014 (Colt Pettit and Chris Durkin). Before that, it was 2006. However, former standouts Dave Kadela and Ben Taylor, both part of the 1997 recruiting class, were from Ohio.

  1. I like the way he doesn’t stop until the whistle blows, always looking for someone to block.
