Five Thoughts The Day After Virginia Tech’s Win At Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Four more yards. That’s all Virginia Tech quarterback Grant Wells needed to hit paydirt after a nearly 60-yard run in the fourth quarter. Just a few more leg churns and the Hokies would have put up a 50-burger on Boston College.

Alas, he got caught from behind, had the ball stripped and fumbled it through the back of the end zone for a fluky touchback. Rather than having their first 50-point game against an ACC opponent since a 2017 thrashing of North Carolina, Virginia Tech had to settle for a 48-22 win against Boston College.

If that was the biggest bummer to come out of Saturday’s trip to Alumni Stadium, then job well done.

The Hokies rolled in one of their most complete performances of the season, getting an early-morning wake-up call to jolt them out of the road woes and slow starts that have hounded them this season.
